Purpose: So that we will show God our thankfulness

Understanding The Text Structure

1.  Look at the sermon outline and list three (3) of the blessings for which we should be thankful. If we have a thankful heart;

I.        We will _____________ God’s ___________________. Psalm 23:1-3

II.        We will _____________ in God’s ___________________. Psalm 23:4-5

III.        We will _____________ in God’s ___________________. Psalm 23:6

Understanding The Text

2.  Look at the following passages from the lesson text. Match each passage with the description that fits it best.

•  _________ John 10:27–30 (NKJV) — 27 My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. 28 And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand. 30 I and My Father are one.”

•  _________ Romans 1:21–22 (NKJV) — 21 because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Professing to be wise, they became fools,

•  _________ Romans 8:31 (NKJV) — 31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?

•  _________ Romans 8:38–39 (NKJV) — 38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

  1. If God is for you, you no longer need worry about who is against you.
  2. Once you surrender to Jesus your eternal salvation is in eternal Hands.
  3. This is a good argument for giving up the habit of worrying about losing your salvation.
  4. This is a good description of the mindset of the world (the lost) both then and now.

3.  Which of the following did the preacher say was the reason that Jesus cried out on the cross?

  1. The nails in His hands
  2. The nails in His feet.
  3. The crown of thorns on His Head.
  4. The absence of His Father’s presence..
  5. The spear in His side.
  6. All of the above
  7. None of the above
