COURSE DESCRIPTION

 The History of Biblical Counseling   (9 Lectures)  Origins and contemporary development of biblical counseling

COURSE RATIONALE

This course is designed to provide the student with an understanding of the foundational  principles of biblical counseling. This understanding will provide the basis for effective ministry in the area of pastoral care. The student will be prepared to take his or her place in the ministry of the church as it carries forth the work designed by its Savior and Founder.

 

COURSE OBJECTIVES

Upon completion of this course:

1. The student will understand the definitions of the various counseling models

2. The student will understand the historical patterns of pastoral care.

3. The student will understand the importance of biblical authority in counseling.

4. The student will understand the elements of competency in counseling.

 

METHOD OF INSTRUCTION

Instruction methods will include online lectures and assigned bible readings.

Student achievement will be evaluated by a multiple choice exam at the end of the course.
